Redcliffe is a town within the Moreton Bay Region and more broadly, it is situated the north-east of the Redcliffe peninsula. It is in the state of Queensland and relatively close to the capital, Brisbane. It was actually the first colony of Queensland, founded in 1824, but was later left for Brisbane. It has a population of 50,000 people and embodies the state's easy-going, outdoor lifestyle.
Every Sunday the Redcliffe Markets offer charming crafts, fresh produce, home wares and more and are a delightful way to spend a gentle day perusing. The town also hosts an annual Kite Fest which has been an iconic spectacle over the last 17 years. Celebrating the creativity of kites and drawing crowds of more than 20,000 people, the festival has now grown to include an entertainment program. This includes performances by international musicians across four stages and an impressive display of fireworks.
