On a casual basis, you will provide physiotherapy services to Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative (RAP) patient service areas at Flinders Medical Centre. You will provide appropriate, safe and effective physiotherapy management (assessment and treatment) of patients, including hydrotherapy, which results in improved patient care and outcomes. Ensuring your caseload is managed appropriately by treating patients according to priority, you will liaise with medical, nursing and other professional staff regarding patient care in meetings, ward rounds, clinics and in the provision of written reports or other communications. You may also facilitate patient discharge by maintaining close links with community and other resources. Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is the southern area's largest hospital providing medical services for the southern population of Adelaide and major regional rural centres. The flagship hospital for southern Adelaide, FMC has recently undergone an exciting period of redevelopment, with $185 million invested in new, state-of-the-art health facilities including a 55 bed rehabilitation centre, a 15 bed palliative care facility, and a 30 bed older person’s mental health unit.
Holding an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, you will demonstrate physiotherapy skills in assessment and management of a broad range of conditions. You must bring the ability to set priorities and manage one’s time effectively, including the ability to supervise physiotherapy students and assistants. Your ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of staff and maintain effective work relationships, such as the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team situation, will hold you in good stead for this role.
