ACM Healthcare is working with a government organization and is interested in speaking with Psychologists & Social workers who have an interest in providing clinical support and service quality assurance to ex-military personnel and their families.

Typical duties of the Psychologist/Social Worker will include;

Liaising and forming partnerships with the ADF and other government departments, ex-service organisations, community health and welfare agencies, and all other organisations involved in meeting the identified needs of veteran and defence force communities and families

Collaboratively manage and coordinate the state’s Outreach Program through liaison and negotiation with the client's management and staff through Contribution to the continuous quality improvement of our clients Outreach Program at both state and national levels

Coordination and participation in the selection, orientation and resourcing of suitably qualified and experienced outreach counsellors in line with policy

Facilitation of the delivery of high-quality clinical outreach services for eligible clients in rural and outer metropolitan areas in conjunction with other staff by;

  • ensuring referrals are appropriate, timely, and accompanied by the relevant written client and administrative documentation
  • applying quality assurance procedures to ensure all aspects of outreach counsellors’ clinical practice, reporting and invoicing meet contractual requirements
  • providing information, debriefing and support, but not clinical supervision, to contracted service providers as appropriate
  • ensuring OPEN ARMS staff with outreach area coordination and/or administrative responsibilities are informed of national and state policy and procedure updates
  • further development, maintenance and management of a database of OPEN ARMS contracted counsellors

Direct provision of high-quality clinical services including initial intake, assessment and referral, evidence-based counselling, case management and care coordination as required

Participation in and contribution to ongoing learning and development activities and maintenance of the professional status

Participation in community development and service promotion activities

    Participation in program evaluation and research activities, contributing to project management activities that implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations and providing feedback for the ongoing development of clinical policy and procedures

    Applying the principles of cooperative and safe work practices consistent with values and the Department’s mission, vision, approach and values

      Mandatory attributes:

      • Qualifications must be that of a psychologist or accredited mental health social worker.
      • Mental health accredited social workers must be registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencing in the position.
      • Both psychologists and mental health social workers must have extensive clinical and relevant management experience.
      • Qualified psychologists must have current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).

      Desirable attributes:

      • Community or Defence mental health team experience
      • Expertise in treating substance abuse, mood, and anxiety disorders, PTSD
