Youth and Family Worker (Part Time)

About the Role:

This is a part-time role of 7.5 hours per week, with a focus on the young people in our community. This opportunity will see you use your study in Social Work or similar and/or your experience in working with vulnerable communities to:

  • Build trusted relationships with our young people, engaging with those who are vulnerable in ways that will empower and improve their wellbeing
  • Run outdoor fitness programs and actively take part in gym and sports activity with our young people
  • Run after school and holiday programs, looking for areas of interest and opportunities to provide additional support
  • Complete regular reporting using MS Office skills
  • Provide education and advice on all aspects of youth health and wellbeing
  • Create marketing collateral and social media promotion of our Centre.

This is a physical role that will require manual handling of apparatus.

Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in (or working towards): Social Work, Welfare, Community Services, Youth Work
  • Current or willing to obtain: CPR, First Aid Certificate, Working With Children Check (WWCC), Police Check (issued in 2020)
  • NSW Driver’s licence
  • Self-motivated with accountability & confidentiality
  • Reliable and proactive, a can-do attitude
  • Ability to engage with people appropriately across a range of cultures
  • Ability to build positive relationships within the community and promote the community Centre at every opportunity
  • Information technology skills (MS Office and Social Media)
  • A second language is advantageous but not essential
  • Knowledge of the local area is desirable but not essential.
