  • Generous remuneration package. Salary from $62,469 to $66,529, plus additional 17% loading for working weekends, superannuation and annual leave loading

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is currently seeking multiple Field Officers to join their team for on-the-ground management of our reserves and wildlife. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and preservation of the natural and cultural values of the national park estate.

About us
NPWS manages national parks and reserves throughout NSW, covering over 7 million hectares or 9% of the landmass of NSW. We are part of the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.

We conserve and celebrate our biodiversity and cultural heritage, work with and for our community and provide outstanding natural spaces.

NPWS manages more than 870 national parks and reserves. We carry out plant and animal conservation, sustainable tourism and visitation, research, education, volunteering programs and more. We also work closely with other agencies to manage fire both on and off park €“ over half of our staff are trained firefighters.

About the role
Our Field Officer teams are the boots on the ground and undertake a diverse range of tasks including fire management, construction, maintenance and improvements of NPWS parks and facilities, and maintenance of heritage buildings and structures. As a Field Officer, you will contribute to our mission of enhancing and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of our parks and deliver the work on the ground that turn policy and strategy into reality.

You will work in a team, undertaking fire, pest and weed management activities, construction, maintenance and improvements of park assets within NPWS parks and reserves, and maintenance of heritage buildings and structures. You will also undertake diverse tasks, operate and maintain plant and equipment, respond to visitor enquiries and may assist with compliance activities.

This is a key role which performs works programs and conducts inspections of potential safety hazards to ensure that the public has access to appropriately maintained and safe recreational facilities.

About you
We are looking for individuals who are team players and enjoy interacting with a diverse range of people in a lively environment. You will have demonstrated ability and experience to carry out all duties safely and ability to obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification to appropriately operate and maintain minor plant and equipment. It is essential that you possess or are willing to obtain a current driver€™s licence and 4WD certification, first aid certificate, chainsaw certification and firefighting certification.
