We’re seeking applications from experienced Housekeepers, Cleaners and Hospitality Workers to join our facility team at Thursday Island!

Located on the edge of beauty, Thursday Island is just a 2-hour flight from Cairns. Star of the Sea Elders Village strives to empower our Elders in their day-to-day lives and improve health outcomes for Torres Strait Islander communities.

You’ll be responsible for carrying out safe and efficient housekeeping, cleaning and laundry services that focuses on the needs and wellbeing of our elders! As part of your role you’ll:

  • Maintain high hygienic standards throughout the entire facility, including communal living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms and equipment of our residents.
  • Assist with laundry services, kitchen, housekeeping and any other hospitality related responsibilities as instructed by your supervisor.

What you’ll need:

You’ll be an experienced housekeeper - preferably within the aged care sector – and demonstrate:

  • Excellent customer service
  • Enthusiasm and strong self-motivation
  • Great communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
  • Evidence of an up-to-date Influenza vaccination in accordance with the current Public Health Directive for Aged Care Facilities
