This is a regenerative superfine Merino wool and sheep farm or station with some cattle, horses and farm forestry on the New England Tablelands in Northern NSW. The property is a sixth generation family owned business run mostly by Michael Taylor and various casual employees. We pride ourselves on producing some of the world's finest wool and our sustainable and ethical farm management practices. We are working towards organic status and aim to continually improve the biodiversity on our property through re-vegetation and innovative farming practices.
We are situated 23km South of Uralla which is 455km Nth of Sydney and 485km south of Brisbane. You can access the property via main roads or we can pick helpers up from Uralla train station or Armidale airport (30mins by road). We are close to spectacular National Parks in the East and West. Armidale is our main shopping centre and boasts Australia's largest regional University with plenty of shops and activities. Our farm qualifies for second year visa applicants.
Help required on the property will vary depending on the seasons. Our large vegetable garden and ornamental garden always require attention. Work around the house is also appreciated. Jobs on the farm may include fencing, sheep work, weed control, tree pruning, mulching, tree planting, building and yard repairs, painting, rock picking and various other manual jobs. We try to keep things varied and will try and match your jobs with your skills. We cannot always involve you in some activities due to the complexities involved although you will always be welcome to observe. Food, accommodation and weekends with internet access are naturally exchanged for your help.
Medium stays of two to four weeks are preferred and accommodation is in private rooms with a separate bathroom from the homestead. References are also preferred. French speakers are also welcome as some of us are bilingual :-) Minimum age of 22 and males, females or couples are welcome. Preferably non-smokers and helpers with some car driving experience.
