What a Disability Support Worker does
Qualification – Possess or are currently working towards a certificate III in Disability, Aged Care or Individual Support
First Aid Certificate
Computer Literacy – Ability to use Client Management Systems
WWCC Working with Children Check
National Police Check
Applicable State checks to work with vulnerable people if required
Understanding of the following:
Well-developed interpersonal, written communications literacy
Comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicle (community participation roles)
Disability Support roles are often initially on a casual basis and progress to part time or full time as you continue with the organisation. Hours usually are determined on the client base and if you are adapting easily to the working environment and tasks required. Organisation will support through training and mentoring opportunities to develop your skills further.
