The role

As part of Saab's Maritime group, the Combat Systems Engineers in Above Water Warfare (AWW) & Underwater Warfare (UWW), will play a key role in furthering the development of Saab Combat Systems, specifically as they relate to the platform/s AWW and UWW capability.

The successful candidate(s) will:

  • Contribute to the engineering design of Saab Combat Systems to support AWW and/or UWW and their associated systems/equipment such as:
    • radars, sonars, electro-optical sensors
    • missile & torpedo launchers and guns
    • electronic warfare, decoys and counter measures
  • Contribute to the integration of the AWW and/or UWW capability within the wider Combat System
  • Provide technical input into procurement, design reviews, installation, test, trials, acceptance and engineering change activities
  • Develop specifications and statements of work for procurement of OEM systems and related command and control
  • Support the AWW and/or UWW engineering delivery teams to mature the sensor, effector and command and control design

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary engineering qualifications in a related technical discipline
  • Knowledge about contemporary engineering process, standards, principles and best practices
  • Sound understanding and experience of engineering in large scale complex systems
  • Thorough understanding of the entire systems engineering lifecycle
  • Experience in at least two areas of a complex system: architecture, design, integration, test and verification, acceptance, through life support or upgrades
  • Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work with others in a team environment.

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
