Are you a social media superstar who loves news and lives and breathe social media? Do you have a deep understanding of both strategy and content? Are you looking for a new opportunity in the exciting world of streaming?

The Foxtel Group is looking for a Head of Social Media who can join a growing team to work on our new news streaming service Flash.

This is an opportunity to join this team for launch – a first of its kind service offering viewers content from 20 of the biggest and most trusted local and global news sources – all in one place.

Your job will be to help showcase this content on social media and play a key role in developing the social strategy for this brand new service.

This has the energy and dynamism of a start-up, but the backing of the powerhouse Streamotion brand within the Foxtel Group, which has already launched the successful streaming services Kayo and Binge.

Your responsibilities

  • You will work closely with colleagues across editorial and marketing to develop strategies to foster brand awareness of the news service.
  • You will manage a Social Content Specialist to assist in delivering content across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other relevant platforms.
  • To succeed in this role, you should have a keen interest in news and current affairs and have an understanding of the current global landscape and national issues.
  • You must have a proven ability to create a social media strategy that assists in not only building brand but in driving a subscription business.
  • You must have the ability to multitask and understand the immediacy of digital and television news environments and how best to leverage broadcast content for digital assets.
  • You should be able to identify newsworthy opinion, interview and news content and ensure this is delivered to audiences quickly and accurately to drive this content into the news cycle.

Your capability

  • At least 8-10 years of social media experience within a similar environment such as media, advertising, strategy, or in a news & entertainment focused business
  • Passion for news and current affairs and an understanding how to best leverage this content on social media.
  • An ability to create a strategy for growing an audience on social media with the aim of driving brand awareness and subscriptions.
  • Experience creating and developing social communities
  • Ability to clearly communicate the performance of your social strategy in practice
  • Deep understanding of digital media, social platforms, content marketing & technology
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to create reports to demonstrate the performance of your strategy and team in growing audience.
  • You are active on direct channels, responding to customers and liaising with relevant departments across social channels.
  • You can work closely with marketing and content teams to ensure content is relevant and engaging.
  • You will report regularly to stakeholders on customer feedback, audience, key themes and trends.
