Batchfire Resources is the owner of Callide Mine in Central Queensland, an open-cut coal operation located 120km southwest of Gladstone and 20km northeast of the thriving regional township of Biloela. The mine has operated since 1944 producing coal primarily for domestic power generation, alumina refining and export markets. Under the ownership of Batchfire Resources (October 2016) and recently under new leadership, the business has a substantial transformation journey ahead and is seeking an engaging and experienced Safety leader to play a key role in shaping Batchfire Callide for the future.
The career opportunity
Reporting to the Manager - People, Safety & Health, this is an exciting career opportunity to be a founding member of a newly formed leadership team that will span People, Safety, Health and Learning & Development at Callide Mine. As the Safety Systems Superintendent, you will be strategic in your approach and lead safety function as well as capabilities on site at Callide Mine. You will have the opportunity to engage and influence the newly formed Health, Safety & Training strategy and two Safety Advisors to deliver on the key metrics:
Who are we looking for?
To make an impact in this role you will be a seasoned mine site safety leader that has proven experience in developing, executing, and maintaining robust and rigorous safety systems and processes for a large workforce. You will be known as an inspiring people leader and someone that is energised by reshaping and rebuilding safety functions to achieve the desired goals of the organisation. You must possess significant coal mining experience to be successful in this role.
Along with your safety and team leadership skills, you will be a collaborative team player, a strong influencer and someone that has a proven track record of transforming safety functions to become more efficient and leads to a safer working environmental to all that work on site.
