About the role

The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community Action Coordinator is a state-wide connector, adviser and engagement support to our Red Cross people, teams and communities we work alongside.

Supported by the Community Mobilisation Manager and guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan commitments, you will be an enabler and play an important role in strengthening Red Cross engagement, connection and presence; our approaches to listening to communities and how we walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Victoria.

This work will inspire, enable, support, empower, advise and influence Red Cross people and how together we walk alongside, partner with and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Victoria. You will have the opportunity to collaborate on a variety of activities and project; work with a diverse range of people, teams and communities including our volunteers and members, our RAP team and our leadership teams in Victoria and throughout the country.

  • Significant experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people/communities and proven ability to build positive connections and relationships
  • Strong ability to be a flexible, positive, empowering and collaborative team member, with the ability to be a problem solver
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Enjoy working in different ways to deliver you work goals
  • A strong influencer and driver of change
  • Ability to facilitate the development and design of new initiatives and activities
  • Ability to support the growth and learning of others, including staff, volunteers and members

This role is a SCHADS level 4 but remuneration will be dependent on experience. You can also generous salary packaging options that can increase your take home pay by paying certain expenses using pre-tax dollars up to $15,900 a year.
