Like other kitchen hand work, the job of a sandwich hand is usually semi- or unskilled. As a sandwich hand, you will be carrying out basic tasks, such as slicing bread and buttering bread, and preparing sandwich fillings, as well as possibly washing kitchen utensils and cleaning work surfaces. You will mainly be following instructions rather than working independently.
You should expect to do shift work, including evenings and weekends. Some aspects of the work may also be physically demanding, not least the requirement to spend large amounts of time on your feet. However, there is only a low level of responsibility, with nobody working under you, so no managing of staff or any kind of managerial experience is necessary. In general, entry requirements for this job are fairly low and don't require much in the way of qualifications or experience. If you're desperate to break into the world of sandwiches, you can get a unit of competency in preparing sandwiches (see, 'Qualifications', below).
The average salary for open Sandwich Hand jobs is currently $43,200, 53% lower than the national average salary for all jobs which is $90,366.
81% of the live vacancies are full-time, however 19% of them are part-time positions.
The Adzuna recency index score for this search is 0.29, suggesting that demand for Sandwich Hand job vacancies in Australia is decreasing.
